The Work that I Watch
What I'm really interested in is liveness. How are you making use of the audience being present in the room with you? Why does it matter that this is happening in real time, and not a recording on a screen?
Currently, I write for the magazine Binge Fringe, as part of their Edinburgh Fringe team each year. Binge Fringe is quickly building a reputation for the representation and diversity in their reviews. As reviewers for this platform, we specifically seek out marginalised artists, those voices which all too often get stuck in the side-lines.
When I am reviewing a show, I am looking for a voice that seldom gets heard, and how that voice is amplified. I am looking for a space where each element is carefully pieced together. How are the audience greeted? How does the first lighting cue change to the next? I notice the details, and how they build up, detail by detail, to create an incredible show.

My reviews span body performance, immersive experiences, political cabaret, solo storytelling, and resistance-themed work - with a particular focus on marginalised and censored voices and stories.
I'm interested in writing about work with a call to action, and I bring a practitioner's eye to how a show is put together.
